The Science of Heat Therapy
by Johnny Bang
Heat therapy has been used by societies around the world for thousands of years. First dating back to the ancient Greeks and Egyptians who used hot air caverns and thermal baths as a means of relaxation, through to the sauna obsessed people of Finland where over 90% of households have a sauna it and more recently the popularization of infrared saunas in Japan and now throughout the western world too.
It is clear that heat therapy has been around for a long time and the reason it is so popular is simple... it works.
Now, the science is catching up to what society has already known for a long time and there have now literally been hundreds of clinical studies which demonstrate the effectiveness of heat therapy to treat a whole range of conditions and to deliver many health benefits.
On this page, we have collected together a list of just some of the many studies that have been conducted, so you can better understand for yourself the science behind heat therapy.
